  GROG JARDINIERE, c.1820 £SOLD  
An unusual and quite rare early 19th Century Jardiniere. The buff clay body , coloured in the making has been decorated with a thick coating of grog. That is clay chips of different colours to give the surface a gravel look. Additional painted band of dark brown slip has been applied to the rim.

A very complex and unusual form of decoration.

Probably Staffordshire,circa 1800.

Height 5 inches, 13 cm.

Condition. A number of very minor hairlines, and one circular hairline near the base on the inner side. originally would have had a tray.
