BULL FIGHTING PLATE, GLEN France c.1840

£45

BULL FIGHTING PLATE, GLEN France c.1840 £45
A rare and interesting mid 19th Century earthen ware plate. Transfer printed in two colours, a blue border and black central design. This obviously one of a set (No 12) depicting a scene from a bull fight. I don't think I have ever seen this depicted from this period the Mid 19th Century circa 1850-60.

The bull is dead and being pulled away by three horses. The plate has the title El Abrastre Del Torio at the top and Le Taureau Traine Dehors 12 at the base of the print.

Printed mark Porcelain Opaque GLEN FRANCE.

20 cm, 8 inches in diameter.

Condition there is a line on the front, in-front of the horses that runs along the foot rim.
