RARE WEDGWOOD TARGET TEAPOT. c.1770

£SOLD

RARE WEDGWOOD TARGET TEAPOT. c.1770 £SOLD
A very rare 18th Century Wedgwood creamware teapot and cover decorated with a red target like pattern.
There would appear to be only 4 or 5 of these teapots known. J.Horn illustrated one in an early catalogue. I believe there is one in the Norwich collection and another in the Whieldon collection ( both appear unpublished) and I understand there is another in the USA.
Chip to lid, minor chip to end of spout and base of handle restored.
