  IMPORTANT & RARE PEARLWARE COCKREL. £885  
An important late 18th century pearlware cockerel, based on the E.Wood model. He stands on a small rocky base looking slightly to one side. The plain body decorated not in coloured glazes but coloured slip characteristic of the Devon pottery at Bovey Tracy . This attribution has been confirmed by Brian Adams. And has dated it to 1790-95 .
Height 8 1/2 inches 21.5 cm.
Condition large chip to base restored some time ago, crack following around right side wing.
Provenance. old label of D.M. & P.Manheim.
A rare and unrecorded piece of this small provincial 18th century pottery.
