Most Sponge Ware is attributed to the Scottish potteries so it is nice to have a marked example from one of the top English Factories. Decorated in two colours in a striking pattern of mauve flower heads and green leaves with a very delicate black line linking the patterns. The whole pattern framed by a green border line. The plate measures 8 3/4 inch is in good perfect condition. Impressed mark W.ADAMS, TUNSTALL attributed to the Mid 19th Century. I would have thought the plate dated to the 1870s
