A very rare large format book. TILES FROM CHERTSEY; Tiles from Chertsey Abbey Surry, formed the pavement . From drawings by Mr Manwaring Shurlock. 41 coloured plates of medallions representing the chief incidents relating to the Romance Poems "Richard Coeur de Lion" and Sir Tristrem are drawn full size.

A history of the abbey as well as description of the tiles, regarded as the finest in England.

Originally sold on subscription of which only a maximum of 125 copies were to be produced at a price of one guinea. in 1885.

Condition worn, pages fine. hardback boards separated from spine. Large size 13 1/2 x 19 1/4 inches
