A very rare gift sampler worked in the finest of silks on a very fine silk ground. The top portion typically worked with a variety of spot motifs including peacocks flowers and hears.
The bottom has a short verse followed by a dedication.... A Present from E. Deacon to her sister Elizabeth Perkins 1840. One presumes her sister was married and that this could well have been a wedding gift, or maybe just a gift for a loving sister.
Only 20.5 x 22 cm .
