an unusual and rare mid 19th century 'Staffordshire' dog but probably not Staffordshire. Decorated with an all over treacle like glaze the dog has been slip cast in a fine red clay., not dis similar to that found and used by American potters.
Beautifully potted with fine moulded detail. Probably circa 1840.
Height 7 1/2 inches 19 cm.
