  IMPORTANT CHILDS COTE QUILT Signed & dated 1835. £SOLD  
An important and rare child's cote quilt signed & dated Elizabeth Wilton Symes Aged 7 years 1835.
Very fine work , incredible work for a 7 year old child. with the small squares being only 3/4 inch square.
Elizabeth was born in 1827 Chetnole, Dorset to Levi & Harriot (nee Wilton) Millers. She Married aged 35 in 1862 to George Hodder, a Baker form Netherbury Dorset. It is interesting that her father becomes a Baker shortly after this. They had two sons Edwin George & Frederick William . She died aged 69 in Netherbury and was buried back in Chetnole on 1.4.1896.
