THE BEST SHORE BIRD WE HAVE HAD

£SOLD

THE BEST SHORE BIRD WE HAVE HAD £SOLD

The very best I personally have seen as genuine early, possibly 19th century carved and painted shore bird decoy. This bird has had a history, wonderful old dry wood with all the cracks splits that you would want to see. The paint is original although over the last 100 years it has been touched up here and there, as has the old working replacement to the tail and beak. There is also an old repair with ta tin staple to the breast, and back of the neck. . The underside shows at least three different pole holes, one painted over in a later touch up of the white underside of the bird, but this paint is historic.

I would think if you wanted a perfect bird then buy new, this has been used shot at and left out and then shot at again, for 100 years or more.

on a later stand. Total height 10 inches 25.5 cm
