In our experience , it is uncommon to find continental samplers with the details of the sewer, school and date on them , so we were delighted to find this French example, inscribed... MADE BY JOSEPHINE GARIGUE 10 YEARS AGE ON 27 FEBUARY 1856 AT THE LADIES OF THE PRESENTATION OF MARIE A CABANN. (in French).
It retains wonderful colour and what appears to be its original frame. |
