  RARE SUSSEX / KENT FLASK W.BANKS 1804 £2200  
A rare Sussex flask of to us unrecorded form with a central hole. Inscribed W.Banks and dated 1804.
Seldom does a piece of pottery lead us down such a sad tale. William Banks was born 22.June 1796 Boughton-Monchelsea Kent to Benjamin & Ann (nee Gosbee). on April 17 1792 he married Jane Blackman in All Saints Church Lydd and had there first son John. The first of 11 children. In 1804 his 7th child Thomas, died having been born the previous year. William Died aged 42 on 18th Sept.1811 having drowned off Sandgate , and was buried in Lydd.
