WINCANTON DELFT BOWL, c.1740.

£SOLD

  WINCANTON DELFT BOWL, c.1740. £SOLD
Wincanton Delft is an interesting group from the mid 18th century, although I understand a few pieces are named, and there is documentary evidence of the pottery in the form of adverts no evidence of the pottery or the site have been found in this small Somerset town. (I may be wrong).
This bowl c.1740, was brought in Somerset is decorated in the Mimosa pattern often associated with the factory although a Bristol origin could also be considered.
I find it interesting that it fits nicely between the earlier straight sided bowls of c.1700 and later 18th curved bowls.
25 cm in diameter.
