DEVON SLIPWARE FLASK for JOHN FICE 1783

£1250

DEVON SLIPWARE FLASK for JOHN FICE 1783 £1250
A very rare and interesting South Devon Slipware flask inscribed John Fice 1783. (An uncommon name) Possibly a Miller from Modbury who took on an apprentice Sarah Row in 1797. I would have preferred it to be a John Fice a British soldier who fought in The Samuel Drake Regiment in the US war from 1775 and retired in 1783.
A cream colored body with incised decoration filled in with a red/brown slip .
Height 14.5 cm.
Condition large chip to spout unrestored.
