  ROGER BIRCH (1775-1843) SILHOUETTE by J. H. MILLINGTON, c.1806 £SOLD  
Rare Silhouette by J.H.Millington of Holborn depicting Roger Bird (1775-1843) a man of independent means living at Stockwell-end farmhouse (b.1520) Tettenhall Regis Staffordshire. Married to Nancy they had three children Roger, Mary Ann & Sarah Susanna.
Wonderful original label, with full details, Millington recorded in E.N.Jackson p.131.
Original frame with a Shamrock Rose & Scottish thistle design suspension hook. Probably made at the time and to commemorate, The Acts of Union 1800 (sometimes referred to as a single Act of Union 1801) which were parallel acts of the Parliament of Great Britain and the Parliament of Ireland which united the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland to create the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
