  DAVID PLAYING THE HARP TO SAUL. c.1680 £SOLD  
A late 17th century needlework picture depicting David playing the Harp, According to the Book of Samuel, an “evil spirit from the Lord” plagued King Saul, making him agitated and fearful of persecution. Music was thought to have a therapeutic effect, the king summoned the hero and warrior David, who was renowned for his skill with the harp, in this case he is playing it to you the viewer... as if music and needlework is therapeutic !.
