There is something crisp and clean about red & white samplers, the traditional teaching aide for marking needlework.
Maude completed her sampler with the alphabet in both upper and lower case letters with numbers 1 to 9 followed probably the date 188- but ran out of room so repeated it after her name at the bottom.
