  SAILORS BOTLE COMMEMORATING THE Ship ORIENT 1851 £SOLD  
An interesting piece of Sailors Folkart. An engraved bottle depicting the Ship Orient and dated 1851. Although not launched until 1853, her keel was probably laid down in 1851. A three masted clipper she served in the Crimean war before sailing the trading route between England and South Australia. In 1886 she was reduced to a barque, and a hulk in 1890, she was eventually scrapped in 1925.
