Elizabeth Wilsdon Aged 10 1816.
A beautiful and delightful early 19th century silk sampler depicting the story of Eve taking the apple in the garden of Eden. Or at least the garden as she saw it with her large pet cat (or Tiger) small lamb and a pair of pet rabbits.
At the top a pair of hexagonal panels with short statements of virtues, have not only flowers stitched but the pencil drawings our Elizabeth had made before stitching her sampler.
Elizabeth Wilsdon was born in 1806, to Sarah & Thomas farmers of Eusham, Oxfordshire . She married John Spencer of Brails Warwickshire, Also a farmer. They had two sons. She died aged 76 in sept.1882.
Retains its original gilt frame ,40 x 80 cm.
Condition good pale colours not faded. two very small holes. |
