Exceptional early 19th century SILK NEEDLEWORK

£295

Exceptional early 19th century SILK NEEDLEWORK £295
An exceptional early 19th century French silk picture, depicting a cherub like child drummer boy stroking his dog. Interestingly this delightful image has, like so much early art, meaning, Peace.
The young child has lost his militaria uniform and discarded his drum sticks, lie on the floor. He strokes his dog, who now holds the gun. The fountain of life in the background all point to happier times with the end of the Napoleonic wars.
French circa 1820.
Framed in a period Rosewood frame measuring 40.5 x 45 cm
