Most interestinfg Staffordshire Ale Jug of circa 1780.. The mask spout is usualy associated with firms like Greatbatch although other makers probably produced similar.. The jug decorated in overglaze enamels has a central cartouce with the inscription JOHN WILLIAMS of BARRY . On one side we have a single flower, the other three hop poles . So we have a Staffordshire creamware Jug produced for someone in Wales advertising Kent hops ( Barges and ships worked around the coast taking Welsh slate to Kent and returning with Wool and Hops).
Condition, Spout brocken of and reatached the join well restored.
