An uncommon version of the peafowl pattern, decorated in bright prattware colours on a pearlware earthenware body. The brightly coloured bird scene perched by on foot on a branch of large sponge ware leaves that form an arch around him. He with a slightly stupid look is looking down through the gap the leaves form on the right hand side of the plate. The plate has inadditrion a double brown border line.
English, probably Staffordshire, circa 1800.

Condition three small rim chips. one at 4 , 7 and 12 o'clock..
