WOODEN LANTERN, c.1900

£SOLD

  WOODEN LANTERN, c.1900 £SOLD
Not the most obvious thing to make a candle lantern from, wood. These I understand are traditionally made in Alsace-Lorraine area of Eastern France and made from the early 19th Century. This I would think is circa 1900-20. Made of white wood and pegged together not with nails but wooded pegs in the traditional way.. The front door opens to reveal a candle holder made of tin.

This appears to be unused I \'m confident that it has age and not new.

Height without the carring handle 8 1/4 inches 21 cm. Top 5 1/3 inches 13 cm square.
