Sarah Sophia Blake Horton was the daughter of John & Sarah Sophia (Hill) Horton. A Master Mariner, they lived at 13 Union Street Strood, a road off the main street that lead to the docks. They had eight children approx. one every two years, possibly a reflection on the time he was at sea !.
Unmarried she first worked as a school mistress before becoming house keeper to her father. |
