£SOLD TO THE CHURCH |
Maunby Methodist Church is a tiny building in the village of Maunby, near Hambleton and south of Hambleton and the River Swale in Yorkshire. This pocket-sized red brick Methodist Church was built in 1855. It is said that the women of the village carried bricks in their aprons to help, but in 1857 it became part of the United Methodist Free Church. It continues in service today, lying on a quiet lane with a border of neat iron railings around the front yard.
The Lovefeast or Agape feast is a communal meal shared among Christians. The Lovefeast originated in the early Church and was a time of fellowship for believers. In the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Lovefeasts consisted of bread and water that filled the loving-cup. |
