Named and dated objects are always more interesting and many survive because of the historical history that information conveys.
As a Shepherd I have never seen an earlier wooden crook, its an impossible item to date and improbable one to survive which make this more remarkable.
Carved Chestnut it is inscribed Alex 1885.
