FOR REBECCA FAIRDEAN 1831 |
£325 |
Wonderful imagery , true folk art is this sampler worked as a gift for her sister Rebecca Fairdean, dated February 6. 1836.
Worked in very fine coloured wools on an open ground in mainly long stitch.
One of an interesting group of samplers worked in this way, that can also include central panels in Quilts. We have as yet not tracked down the area they were made but possibly Lancastershire or at least Northern they all shred a wonderful freedom of expression in there style.
37.5 x 33.4 cm. Original maple frame.
Condition some holes and loss to ground fabric, |
