A classic Scottish House sampler with a number of interesting features by CHRISTAIN DOD, who Sowed This Sampler in the year 18011 (Eighteen hundred and 11) aged 8 years. This information contained within a central panel. Either side are her parents initials AD & IW . Above these two lines of family initials those in black having died.
Between the chimneys of her blue stone house another panel dedicating the sampler to The Rev David Armstrong.
The house is surrounded by birds and beasts including Rabbits Deer Chicken , a Peacock and her dog. in addition of numerous flowers trees and a pair of baskets full of fruit.

42 x 53.5 cm including period frame.
